Overview

The Slaight Music Emerging Songwriter Award, presented by the CSHF, celebrates the current achievements and future potential of emerging Canadian songwriters. Established in 2017, the award is generously sponsored by Slaight Music, with the overall objective of encouraging and supporting the development of Anglophone and Francophone songwriters who are on an upward trajectory in their careers. Winners are awarded with a cash prize, access to Slaight Music recording facilities and a segment at the CSHF Induction Ceremony.

Slaight Music was started in 2011 with a mandate to support the Canadian music community through a variety of initiatives, and to develop Canadian talent via strategic partnerships with industry peers. They work with artists from across the country and across the musical spectrum, helping to further careers and get great music heard.
